Accidents at Work

Mr Anderton was working on a building site when he had his accident at work. Whilst walking up an internal staircase a steel plate fell on his foot and he was left pinned to the wooden step. The insurance company for the building contractor initially offered to pay Mr Anderton damages of £4,500 for the accident at work. When Case Direct started a court action they raised their compensation offer to £6,000 which Mr Anderton accepted.

Mr Carter was a 24 year old window maker when he had his accident at work. A fellow worker lit a cigarette which ignited the fumes from the window casting he was handling. He sustained 75% burns and was left with serious facial, hand and body scarring. He contacted Case Direct and we agreed to fight his case. Initially his employers refused to accept his claim for damages but when we raised a court action, they agreed to pay him £280,000. Mr Carter was grateful to be alive and he was very grateful to Case Direct.

Mrs Foxwell had an accident at the factory where she was employed. She slipped on a wet patch on the floor and suffered a back injury which meant she had to stop work permanently. She also suffered from depression as a result of having to give up her job. Her employers refused to accept her claim saying that the accident was not due to their negligence. They also said that Mrs Foxwell was fully recovered and that her depression was either non-existent or not due to the accident at work. Case Direct took her case to court and Mrs Foxwell’s former employers were eventually forced to pay £95,000 in compensation.

Mr Fulton had an accident at work in which he fell off scaffolding and was seriously injured. There were no witnesses and the cause of the fall was unclear. Some time later, Mr Fulton died. It was presumed that this was a result of his injuries but the medical evidence was not conclusive. Case Direct raised a court action and his employers agreed to pay £44,000 to Mr Fulton’s family. No amount of money could compensate for the family’s loss but we were please to have won their case. This was a good level of award for a fatal accident at work considering the lack of evidence regarding the cause of the fall.
